DermabrasionPerformed by Dr. Dick, dermabrasion helps to "refinish" the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical sanding. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance. Dermabrasion is most often used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery and is commonly used to treat deep acne scars. It can be performed on small areas of skin or on the entire face.
Chemical PeelsChemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three types of chemical peels, ranging from mild to strong - alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol - and formula strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look. They may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons.
FacialsAs we age, the rate at which our skin sheds and replenishes itself slows down. This leaves a layer of dead cells on the surface of the skin, contributing to an aged appearance. Facials help exfoliate the damaged layer to reveal the younger, healthier skin beneath. Some of the ingredients used can be natural fruits and plant extracts, essential oils, vitamins, collagen and elastin. Facials reduce the signs of aging and can also improve skin conditions such as acne, dry or oily skin, and uneven texture or pigmentation. Facials are tailored to each patient for optimal results.
Cosmetic Dermal FillersRestylane®and Perlane®, Juvéderm® Ultra and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus, and Radiesse® products replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Wrinkle correction treatment has lasted up to 18 months in some patients. Dr. Dick will recommend the product that he feels will address your particular needs.
Full, natural-looking eyelashes can now be achieved through a prescription treatment called Latisse®. Latisse is the first and only eyelash treatment approved by the FDA to help grow longer, fuller and darker eyelashes and treat hypotrichosis, a condition that includes having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.
BOTOX® is a simple non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep persistent frown lines between your brows. One treatment relaxes the muscles that cause these frown lines for up to four months.
Kinerase® is a line of moisturizing cosmetic products designed to improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, brown spots and uneven pigmentation. Kinerase is based on a synthetic ingredient called N6-furfuryladenine, which may slow natural aging in plants. It is useful for day-to-day improvement of skin texture and appearance, for treating skin disorders such as rosacea, eczema and dermatitis, and for supplementing procedures from laser resurfacing and microdermabrasion to chemical peels and BOTOX® injections.
Wilma Schumann® European Skin CareWelcome to a new level in clinical skin care imported from Germany. Sold exclusively through professional skin care providers and plastic surgeons, these products are guaranteed to be free of pore-clogging ingredients, mineral oils and alcohols. Great natural fragrances, light and non-greasy feel, easy to use and outstanding results, define each and every Wilma Schumann product. Our office is one of the few in greater Washington to offer this product line. So popular we can't keep it on the shelf!
Jane Iredale™ Natural Mineral CosmeticsThe most beautiful cosmetic you can wear is a healthy skin. That's why Jane Iredale make-up is a true extension of skin care. These micronized mineral bases are four products in one: foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen. In addition, these products provide excellent camouflage for our post-operative patients. At last, a make-up that is good for the skin!
