A forehead lift or "browlift" is used to correct a drooping browline (eyebrow area) reducing the horizontal lines and furrows (worry lines) that often make a person appear angry, sad or tired. The procedure creates a refreshed, youthful appearance to the forehead area above the eyes.
When performing a forehead lift procedure, muscles and tissue areas that droop or cause creases are removed or corrected to smooth the skin on the forehead to reduce frown lines and raise the eyebrows. There are two surgical methods, and during your initial consultation the procedure that works best for you will be recommended. The first is the most conventional method where a surgical incision is hidden just above the hairline. Browlifts are also performed using an endoscope which enables the procedure to be performed with a minimal number of incisions whereby allowing for removal of portions of muscle contributing to lines. Both methods create smoother, flatter skin on the forehead. Dr. Dick uses the latest absorbable fixation system (endotine).
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can correct drooping upper lids that tend to sag with time and the puffy bags below the eyes. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction with other facial surgery such as a facelift or a brow lift.
This surgery gives you a “big” effect from a “little” surgery.
Over time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and general stress take their toll on an individual's face and neckline. Jowls can develop under the jaw line with folds and fat deposits. Creases begin to form between the nose and the mouth and fate drops below the cheekbone.
A facelift can considerably reduce these signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the skin around the neck and face. In some cases, a facelift can reduce the outward signs of aging by 10 or 15 years. Facelifts can be done alone, or frequently performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas are limited to a specific area, a necklift, “S” lift, or mid face-lift, may be recommended. Some male patients may benefit from direct excision of neck skin below the chin.
Otoplasty or ear pinning surgery is done to correct protruding ears, which can be a source of ridicule as a child enters school. An incision is placed in the natural creases behind the ear and the cartilage of the ear is weakened so that it bends into a new shape. Deep sutures are placed to hold the ear in position.
Rhinoplasty is one of the oldest operations in plastic surgery. The nose is the most prominent feature of the human face. For many people, it is simply a part of their good looks and rarely merits a second thought. For countless others, the nose is an almost constant source of embarrassment. Today, however, plastic surgery can correct a multitude of faults. Rhinoplasty can shorten, tilt up, build up or straighten the nose, create definition, and make it proportional to your face. It can make the most prominent feature on your face a permanent source of pride, while giving you a whole new appearance and a new outlook on life. Often this procedure can be combined with Septoplasty, a functional improvement of the nasal airway through correction of abnormal internal nasal structures, such as a deviated septum.
Fat injection reduces wrinkles and creases and plumps up areas that have lost volume as a result of surgery, injury, aging or another cause. Transplanted fat that comes from the patient him- or herself does not carry a risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Other advantages include a short recovery time, long-lasting results and effectiveness on any skin type.
Collagen is a protein found in the second layer of skin known as the dermis (the first layer is called the epidermis). It is injected under the dermis layer to add fullness to areas of the face such as the lips, cheeks and forehead.
Restylane recently approved by the FDA is a synthetic type of collagen that can last 2-3 times longer than collagen.
Botox® is a simple non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep persistent frown lines between your brows. One treatment relaxes the muscles that cause these frown lines for up to four months.
A person’s fat may also be removed and reinjected, but its unpredictable absorption limits its use.
